Design
Great
landscaping begins with great design. Great design means not just
appreciating the natural environment around your home, but making a
professional assessment of the features and characteristics of your
landscape. Working with your lands’ unique features can mean living in
harmony with your landscape.
Usage, traffic
flow, children, pets, drainage - these are among many important factors that
are considered when designing the spaces around your home. Chris
designs landscapes that harmonize your life and your land. When
installed properly the right design will add functionality, beauty, and
value to your home. This value will only increase as your landscape
matures. |

Retaining
Walls
A retaining
wall, either natural stone or a popular 'segmental retaining wall system',
can be the most important feature of a landscape. These walls can
allow you to make use of space that was once unusable, widen a driveway to
create parking, carve out a hillside to create a new space, or build
terraced gardens.
The sites on
which homes are situated are rarely level. The natural contours of
your land are what make it unique. Building walls that accentuate
these contours can create and define your outdoor living space.
Creating elevated planting beds, patio space or play space can be achieved
with such walls.

Steps
Steps and
staircases allow pedestrians to climb a slope with less effort and more
ease. Negotiating steep grades can be most readily achieved with stairs.
A steep slope that leads to a door is clearly a place for some stairs, but
longer or more gradual slopes can also benefit from carefully placed steps.
Steps and stairs
need to be planned as part of the overall design. Solid rock-faced
granite is the preferred material for building steps. But no matter
which material is used, properly designed and built steps will increase the
beauty and accessibility of a space. |

Patios & Walkways
Walkways and
patios are great additions to a home that immediately increase your
enjoyment of space. Surface areas around a home that provide seating
for relaxing and entertaining become extensions of your living area.
Increasing the useable square footage of your property increases its value,
of course, but more importantly increases your pleasure.
Properly built
patios mean long-lasting outdoor living spaces, while properly built
walkways guide people through a property, allowing safe access and creating
flow. Walk with confidence, sit outside, and enjoy your environment. |

Lawns
While we don't
cut or maintain grass as a practice, South River Landscape excels at
installing, repairing and replacing lawns. We bring in soil, grade to
ensure proper drainage, and hand rake to prepare the soil for hydro-seed or
sod. We work with an irrigation specialist or will work with yours to
ensure the lawn is properly watered.
Great lawns
create the perfect floor covering for our outdoor play areas that you can
enjoy for generations. Whether you choose to install hydro-seed or
sod, South River Landscape will make sure you get off to a great start.
Integrating trees and other plant life with your lawns helps home sites look
more natural. |

Plantings
Flowering trees
and shrubs are what decorate the areas around our home. It is these
plantings that can attract wildlife, create natural beauty, and add texture,
color and contrast. Proper plantings can provide privacy, shade or
even a snack. South River Landscape has the expertise to advise you on
the plants that will do the best in your environment, meet your maintenance
expectations, and increase the value of your home.

"South River Landscape
helped me envision a new space around my home, and took steps to
make it real. They arrived with the tools and did the work and ultimately
that's all I could have asked. My property was re-valued for three
times the cost of the South River Landscape work, and more importantly
the space outside my home is far more useable - a place to congregate
and relax - a new part of my home."
- K. Williams, Scituate, Massachusetts
